IIn the heart of Harare, the vibrant capital of Zimbabwe, I found myself among a people full of smiles and warmth. That experience, which brought me closer to gentle souls radiating life, inspired my artwork based on the Quranic verse: “We have made you nations and tribes so that you may know one another.”
Harare, once known as Salisbury, carries within its streets a story of transformation from a colonial past to an independent nation that reflects the identity of its people. Today, Harare stands as a symbol of diversity, where cultures, languages, and dreams converge. This harmonious blend inspired me to turn one of its walls into a canvas that speaks of unity in diversity and how understanding can bridge all divides.
In this artwork, the curves of Arabic calligraphy formed a mural that celebrates the human beauty rooted in acceptance and connection. I chose vibrant colors to reflect the spirit of the Zimbabwean people, whose smiles endure despite the challenges they face.
This piece wasn’t just about calligraphy or walls—it was about hearts finding a shared language beyond all differences.
