“In the heart of the destruction left by the war machine in Gaza, I sought a way to capture a part of the dreams buried beneath the rubble. In a place that witnessed a massacre committed by the occupation forces, where many innocent children fell, I decided to revive the memory of the place through art.”
This artwork, created in collaboration with the children of the Rafah refugee camp, was more than just colors on a wall. Each brushstroke was an expression of their dreams stolen by war, their yearning for a life free of fear and bloodshed. The work became a bridge between the past and the present, embodying those dreams buried beneath the rubble, but carrying with it a powerful message that hope is never truly buried. Despite every attempt to extinguish the light, we continue to resist—with art and hope—in the face of occupation and its injustice.
This mural was a challenge to the future, a testament that violence cannot extinguish the spirit of resistance, and that future generations will carry the banner of art as a means of expressing their suffering. The dreams, no matter how buried by time, will remain alive within us.
